Paul Glatzel was a surprising inclusion in Liverpool’s Premier League lineup after “moving parts” prevented him from making a summer transfer.
Glatzel, who spent a limited amount of time on loan at Tranmere due to two severe hamstring injuries, has remained with Liverpool for this campaign.
Although his inclusion in the club’s 23-man senior squad for the Premier League was forced because he is no longer able to be registered as an under-21s player, he was named.
Despite this, he will play for Barry Lewtas’ U21 team for at least the first half of the season, commencing in their most recent match against Middlesbrough.
The goal is to improve his fitness in the upcoming months before January move.
Since there are many moving factors involved in bringing him out on loan, this window probably didn’t quite work to do so, the coach said.
He will be a big asset if he receives constant training and exposure to games.
Even though Glatzel turned 22 in February, he is still permitted to participate in any league game for Liverpool U21s as one of up to five overage players.
That rule also applies to Tuesday’s EFL Trophy match between the young Reds and League Two’s Morecambe, where he’ll probably play despite other forwards traveling with the first team to face LASK.
At U21 level, he is now a senior player, and I have to say, his attitude and training style are top notch.
“I get to see his quality every day. For him, hopefully, this is a time for consistent training, and we’ll see where we are with the games for him.”
