After drawing with Chelsea on the opening day of the 2023–24 Premier League season, Liverpool has won four straight games.
The Reds have already this season battled back from deficits in three games, most notably in the 3-1 comeback victory over Wolves at Molineux on Saturday. Despite being one of just four unbeaten teams left in the league.
The only victory in which Liverpool has not given up the first goal is their 3-0 triumph over Aston Villa prior to the international break.
Regarding his team’s start to the season and most recent victory over Wolves, Klopp acknowledged that work remains to be done despite the team’s so far ‘positive indicators’.
“We want to create a lot of things during a season, and one is obviously mentality, absolutely; it’s spirit, it’s a lot of things, resilience,” he said in an interview with Liverpoolfc.com. And yeah, we made a few encouraging moves.
“We demonstrated very effectively that, while we are a really good football team when things are going well, we don’t give up easily when things aren’t going so well.”
“However, it’s still early. You can clearly see that this means we are not yet steady. However, we are moving in that direction. We are aware that we have talented footballers, but even talented footballers can play poorly, like we did in the first half. But we also know that they are far better. Let’s persevere despite it.
“We all know that you always win the very good games, and it’s a good sign when you start winning the less-good games,”
“The second half was very nice, but obviously the first half [against the Wolfpack] was not lesser-good, it was utterly horrible. And having that kind of reaction is definitely helpful to know about.
The next Premier League match between Liverpool and West Ham will take place at Anfield on Sunday, September 24. Prior to that, though, is Thursday’s away Europa League match against LASK in Austria.
