Mohamed Salah has reached the point in his career when he consistently breaks records, and on Saturday at Molineux, he did so once more.
In Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Wolves on Saturday, the Egyptian produced two assists, the first of which was a gorgeous cross for Cody Gakpo, marking Salah’s 200th Premier League goal contribution for the Reds.
In the 30 years of the Premier League, only eight players have ever accomplished this feat for a single team. The likes of Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, and Sergio Aguero are on this restricted list.
However, Salah wasn’t the player to reach this milestone the quickest, which we all know will irritate the 31-year-old a little.
Thierry Henry of Arsenal only needs 206 games to directly contribute to 200 goals in the top level, and Mohamed Salah’s hat trick of assists yesterday came in his 223rd Premier League game for Liverpool.
Salah averaged 51 games and 31 goals throughout the course of his six full seasons with Liverpool, missing just 10 Premier League games over that span.
Jurgen Klopp claimed that Salah is aware of the goalscoring records he can break in an interview with TNT Sports.
“He knows the numbers, he knows everything,” added Klopp. He is aware before the rest of us that a record is just around the corner that he can take. There, no assistance is required.
“Over the years, I believe the way we formed up a squad and played benefitted him. He is aware that we have to alter it throughout the years.
He enjoys tactical work, but ultimately he wants to be in front of the goal, so I’m not sure he’d enjoy a position where he wasn’t in the opposing box.
On Saturday, Salah received the Man of the Match award and has since added another uncommon but amazing tally of goals.
The attacker has now joined Muzzy Izzet, Cesc Fabregas, and Gerard Deulofeu as the only other players to have assisted a goal in five straight away Premier League games.
