After Liverpool defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers on the strength of a comeback, Linda Pizzuti praised the team’s “strong start” to the season.
The Reds’ winning streak has now reached five games after defeating Wolves 3-1 on Saturday at Molineux. The team led by Jurgen Klopp has 13 points to their credit.
However, not everything in the Midlands went Liverpool’s way. Hee Chan Hwang’s early goal gave the hosts the lead at halftime despite them playing second best for the majority of the first 45 minutes.
But everything changed in the second half, as a few assists from Mohamed Salah helped Liverpool earn their fourth straight victory. The win also assisted in breaking the club’s Saturday 12.30pm curse. After Cody Gakpo converted Salah’s cross at the back post to restore parity, Andy Robertson gave the Reds the lead in his 200th Premier League game. In extra time, Harvey Elliott then secured all three points for his team. After the game, Pizzuti, the wife of Liverpool’s majority owner John Henry, was among the first to praise Jurgen Klopp’s team on social media.
“Brilliant second half giving the Reds 3 points on the road,” she posted on Instagram. 13 of the season’s 15 possible points. Liverpool’s start has been strong.
Reds manager Klopp stated, “With the organization in the first half, it was like we had just met in the parking lot before the game.”The upside is that we couldn’t play that poorly in the second half since it was so bad. We altered the system and added one player, which gave us a little more forward momentum. We had superior game control.
