Faye Kirby, a goalkeeper for Liverpool, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury while playing for Aberdeen on loan.

Earlier morning, the Reds posted an update on their injury situation on their official club website.

Kirby has been on loan to Aberdeen of the SWPL 1. She was hurt on Wednesday night while playing for The Dons against Hibernian. In the 60th minute of the game at Meadowbank Stadium, Kirby needed to be replaced.

Her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) has been ruptured, according to an assessment of the player’s condition. Kirby won’t be back in shape until the following summer.

Liverpool manager Matt Beard said of Kirby’s injury, “It’s disappointing. Because Faye has been playing well for Aberdeen, we feel terrible for her.

We are incredibly upset since she has been fantastic since she arrived because it was a harmless challenge and her own player made touch with her.

We were eager to see how the first six months at Aberdeen would help her advance and play consistently because she was looking really, really well.

“We’ll come together to support her, be there for her, and help her get through rehabilitation as quickly as she can.”

Kirby will now go back to Liverpool to start her recovery.
