At halftime, Klopp substituted Luis Diaz for Alexis Mac Allister and decided to use Curtis Jones and Szoboszlai as holding midfielders, with Gakpo joining the two in the middle of the field. The tactical change was immediately successful as Liverpool gained control of the match and completely destroyed Wolves after the break.

Szoboszlai, in a post-game interview with Liverpool Echo, detailed what Klopp had said to his team during halftime. The important thing was that we persisted, he remarked. The manager spoke to us during halftime about the effort and enthusiasm we must bring to the game in the second half. We changed the formation, and everyone did their part to reverse the tide of the match.

Szoboszlai acknowledged that he’s happy to play anywhere the manager wants him to when asked about taking a No. 6 position for Liverpool, adding that he’s still improving his defensive skills.

“I’m playing there if I have to,” he declared. I need to focus a bit more on playing defense, but I was up there trying to help the team and try to shoot; it didn’t work out, but next time! We would all be even happier if we were not trailing by one goal. However, if we want to continue winning in this manner, let’s do it while always winning in the end.

Szoboszlai has been a constant for Liverpool this season and has swiftly won the hearts of the supporters with a streak of outstanding performances. However, it’s anticipated that the Hungarian midfielder will have a midweek break when the Reds travel to Austria to face LASK in the UEFA Europa League.
