Peter Crouch has acknowledged that he believes Mohamed Salah may decide to leave Liverpool for Saudi Arabia in the upcoming summer.
End of last month, Al-Ittihad made a club-record £150 million offer for the Egyptian, but the Reds rejected it, saying the 31-year-old was not for sale. Salah, who will have one year left on his Liverpool deal, is anticipated to draw interest from the Saudi Pro League once more the following year.Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane, Gini Wijnaldum, and Roberto Firmino, all former Reds players, were among the high-profile players that left European clubs last summer for the Gulf state. Crouch cautioned his old team that the Middle Eastern league won’t give up in their chase of these players.
Crouch acknowledged that he wouldn’t object to Salah moving to Saudi Arabia in the future given that the Egyptian had won every award available to him while playing for Liverpool. Crouch claimed that the only reason a transfer like that would be more enticing than competing in a top European league is because of the financial benefits on offer, even if he acknowledged that the Saudi Pro League will continue to grow stronger as their infusion of high-paid talent continues.
“I don’t think you can really begrudge (the move) if you’re a 31 or 32 year old who has won everything,” Crouch said. “Let’s not act fancy; this is your last pay day.
We all know why people go there, so I can’t just sit here and attempt to figure it out. It won’t shift from what it is to what it is.
