Troy Deeney claims that he once allegedly beat up Martin Skrtel while playing against Liverpool in order to get him off the field.
The former Watford captain, who last month accepted a position as a player coach at Forest Green Rovers, talked about a confrontation with the Slovakian during a Premier League match while he was a member of the Hornets.
Deeney gave his version of events, in which he claimed that despite having lost seven of his nine games vs Liverpool, he had dominated the center defender on this particular occasion.
The 35-year-old’s connection with Mamadou Sakho came up while he and co-host Jermain Defoe were guests on the Football Firsts Podcast.He’s a great guy, but my game is physical, so I’m not letting you do anything, not with that stupid hairstyle, Deeney added of Sakho.

Skrtel was the one who broke down the most, he said. In our 2015 home match against Liverpool, we prevailed 3-0.I told the boys, “Put it high.” I successfully timed my jump and won the header. I then elbowed him, and he said, “Oh, bro. Do it now!
“I told you, ‘I’ve got you. He finally left after about 35 minutes, at which point I simply thrashed him bodily.”
Deeney scored just once in nine games against Liverpool, seven of which ended in defeat and one in victory.
