Darwin Nunez, a star for Liverpool, may be injured after experiencing a muscular issue over the break.
Nunez, who sealed a thrilling 2-1 victory over Newcastle United last month with two great late goals, has demonstrated significantly more promise so far this season than he did last.
Nunez contributed significantly to Uruguay’s 3-1 victory over Chile during the international break by providing two assists.
The Liverpool forward was, however, substituted at the break in Tuesday night’s 2-1 loss to Ecuador by Uruguay.
After the game, Uruguayan manager Marcelo Bielsa expressed concern for Liverpool supporters by claiming that Nunez might be hurt.
Darwin had significant muscular issues going into the game, which hindered his ability to move.
“He overworked trying to press and attack in the last game, so I thought it was necessary to sub him,” the coach said.
When asked about Nunez after Liverpool’s game against Newcastle, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said: “He was definitely wound up by not playing, not beginning, then poured all of his energy in these two shots.
“We had prior opportunities to score, as well as excellent football performances from Diogo and Mo. A really mature performance and two excellent goals were produced.
The problem is that it’s still early in the season, and we need to find stability, a formation, and results. There is no question that everyone will play when we resume our three-day schedule.
This weekend, Liverpool will play again when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday.
In addition to Nunez, Liverpool is also counting on South American players Alisson, Alexis MacAllister, and Luis Diaz to be match-ready following their exhausting travel back to England.
