Former Liverpool star believes he may have left Anfield a year too soon.

Currently, one ex-Liverpool player is speculating that he could have left Anfield a year too soon.

In 2019, as a member of the Reds’ Champions League-winning team, Daniel Sturridge’s Reds tenure came to an end. He was later released by the team and signed with Trabzonspor in Turkey two months later.

The 34-year-old is now sorry that he was unable to participate in the next season’s Premier League championship victory.

Speaking on NOW TV, Sturridge mentioned the 2019–20 season at Anfield when asked, along with other Sky Sports analysts, what renowned English top-flight team he’d have loved to have played for.

Of course, winning the Premier League with my teammates when I left Liverpool the following season, the striker replied. In light of the years I spent with the boys, it [would have been] fantastic to be a part of and experience that with them.

The forward played for Merseyside for six years, scoring 68 goals in 160 appearances (Transfermarkt) while there. He also played with Raheem Sterling and Luis Suarez in a deadly trio during the 2013–14 title run.

Sturridge can consider himself unlucky not to have left Anfield with a Premier League trophy, having twice been a part of Liverpool teams who fell just short of Manchester City for the title and leaving the year before we eventually reached the top.

However, it was players like him whose great play in earlier seasons helped Klopp’s champions build the foundation they needed to fulfill their destiny in 2020.
