Laurens says the Reds would have a “headstart” if the France international chose to move to England rather than Real Madrid, who he still feels are the favorites to sign on a free transfer next summer:
“I believe Liverpool have a strong argument to make, particularly if he is a free agent. He should be pursued by every major English club, and he will decide where he feels is best for him. He like Liverpool and all they have accomplished under Jurgen Klopp, as does his mother, who is a huge Liverpool supporter.
 “Perhaps they have a slight advantage over other English clubs, including City, Arsenal, United, Chelsea, and Spurs, rather than Real Madrid. If they had the funds or some form of proposition for him, he would definitely pay attention. There is a lot of money needed to pay his wages and a signing on fee.
The Frenchman’s pay would be the greatest obstacle for Jurgen Klopp’s team, as Laurens points out. The forward at PSG is reportedly making an astounding €72 million year, or around £1.2 million per week, according to Capology. That is almost 3.5 times more than Mo Salah, the Reds’ highest-paid player at the moment, who brings in £350,000 a week.
Salah is likely to depart Anfield for the Middle East next summer given that Saudi Arabian clubs are interested in signing him.
Liverpool will be eager to find someone who can step in and score goals in Salah’s place. The ideal candidate would undoubtedly be Mbappe, but there are several reasons why this won’t happen. Reds supporters might still hope for a transfer to materialise for the time being.
