According to Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt, Liverpool was seriously considering bringing in midfielder Andre Trindade during the summer transfer window.
Following the departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, the Reds explored a deal for the 22-year-old. But Fluminense were hesitant to let Andre leave in the middle of the Brazilian season, especially since they were eyeing Copa Libertadores success after making it that far in the tournament.
There have been rumors that Jurgen Klopp’s team would rekindle their interest in Andre during the January transfer window. Bittencourt revealed that Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan contacted Fluminense in an interview with ESPN through O Globo. Additionally, Flue hasn’t ruled out selling the Brazilian international with one cap in the upcoming months.
“There is an agreement between us, with the player and representative, that he would stay until the end of the year, and they comply fully and with the utmost tranquillity,” said executive Bittencourt.
“What they have accomplished is their work as an athlete’s agent, which entails informing Fluminense of any incoming polling.
“I go even further when it comes to Liverpool. The CEO of Liverpool got in touch with me immediately. My friend, I don’t sell players right now, and I don’t deliver either, I said to him. We can start chatting if you want to buy now to take in January or wait until December and we talk then.
