Prior to the start of the new season, Liverpool has announced the signing of forward Sophie Román Haug, an international from Norway.
A club news release from The Reds this evening alerted FAWSL Full-Time of the transfer.
Haug leaves an 18-month stint with Italian team AS Roma and joins Liverpool. ‘The Magic One’ helped the player win the Supercoppa Italiana and Serie A Femminile TIM championships in the previous campaign. Last season, Haug played in 18 league games and scored seven goals. In addition to her recent domestic successes, the player has extensive UEFA Women’s Champions League playing experience with AS Roma and her former team LSK Kvinner.
The 24-year-old is a true talent, and she hopes to rise to the occasion of competing in the Barclays Women’s Super League at Liverpool.
Haug declared after signing with The Reds, “I’m incredibly pleased to be here and I can’t wait to start.
“I believe it was the best course of action for me. I had a really positive first impression of the club, and I think they’re creating something significant, of which I would really like to be a part.
It is a club with many illustrious traditions and great aspirations. I’m hoping to score a lot of goals this season and I’m confident that the club will have a successful campaign.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to participate in what may be the biggest league in the world.
We will be a hard time to play if we play off a good start
