Leroy Sane of Bayern Munich is reportedly being considered by Liverpool for a sensational deal on the final day of the transfer window. The Merseysiders have identified the wide forward, 27, as a potential Mohamed Salah replacement contender.
Mohamed Salah of Liverpool is not for sale, according to a statement made by Jurgen Klopp earlier on deadline day. But as the summer transfer window closes, his future is still in doubt.
The Egyptian international has gained notoriety recently as a result of Saudi Arabia’s desire to hire him. The Saudi Pro League team Al-Ittihad has been trying to sign the Liverpool player to a contract. Liverpool received a total bid of £150 million from the Saudi club Al Ittihad for Salah. Liverpool, though, turned down the offer and insists that Salah won’t be going.
The Merseyside giants, on the other hand, are sincerely assessing the market for an A-list replacement for their top player. Sane has already made a name for himself for Man City in the Premier League. He is definitely on Liverpool’s radar as a player who could fill Salah’s creative and goal-scoring boots.
In a transaction allegedly worth £54.8 million, the Germany international left the Etihad Stadium for Bayern in 2020. He contributed 46 assists and scored 39 goals in 135 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s squad, helping them to two Premier League titles. The winger had his best English Premier League campaign in 2017–18, managing 10 goals and 15 assists in 32 league games.
Sane has since led Bayern Munich with 40 goals and 37 assists. In the first two games of the 2023–24 Bundesliga season, he has already scored twice. His contract with the Allianz Arena runs through June 2025. Although the young Schalke player loves to play on the left flank, he can also play as a central striker and on the right.
Liverpool believes the German international can replace Salah because of his consistent performance. The 27-year-old can help as a goal threat and someone with similar inventiveness.
