Jordan Henderson disputes having a weekly salary of £700,000 at Al Ettifaq.

This summer, Henderson and Steven Gerrard, a former Liverpool teammate and manager of Al Ettifaq, relocated to the Saudi Pro League.

As a result, Henderson parted ways with Liverpool after 12 years, even though he had served as the club’s captain and won the Premier League and the Champions League.

However, the decision was met with a lot of opposition, particularly from the LGBTQ+ community. Same-sex relationships are forbidden in Saudi Arabia, which has severe rules governing the LGTBQ+ community.

The Athletic called the contract offer “life-changing,” while the Daily Mail stated that it was worth over £700,000 per week, or over four times the reported £190,000 per week contract he had with Liverpool.

Henderson said in a conversation with The Athletic: “No [not £700,000]. (Laughs) I wish it was. No, the figures simply aren’t accurate.

But once more, it had to be profitable for us as well. I’m not claiming that it didn’t, nor am I claiming that I don’t have excellent money since it is good money and the deal was good. However, it wasn’t the figures that were stated. No.
