Asserting that a player of Mohamed Salah’s caliber is almost certainly not going to be solved at this point in the transfer window, Ian Wright thinks Al-Ittihad’s desperate attempt to sign the Egyptian is on the verge of being disrespectful to the Egyptian.
Al-Ittihad, the defending Saudi Pro League champions, made a £150 million proposal for the 31-year-old Egyptian on Thursday, but Liverpool immediately rejected it. Despite the Premier League transfer market closed on Friday night, clubs in Saudi Arabia’s premier division have until Thursday, September 7 to sign players. According to sources, Al-Ittihad may return with a massive bid for the Reds’ No. 11.
Wright thinks Ittihad’s last-minute attempt to entice Salah away from Anfield is “almost disrespectful” to the player, who signed the most lucrative contract in Liverpool history last summer, which runs until 2025.
