Joe Gomez and Joel Matip form Alisson Becker’s odd central pairing as Virgil van Dijk is suspended, Ibrahima Konate is injured and new signing Ryan Gravenberch is out of the squad.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s first-choice goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez returned to the starting line-up after benching Robin Olsen.
Clement Lenglet and Nicolo Zaniolo are also among the substitutes, but after winning against Burnley last weekend, Unai Emery has 10 players left.
