Jurgen Klopp insists he was never in doubt about signing Mohamed Salah after the striker scored in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa.
Salah received a transfer offer of £150million from Saudi Pro-League club Al-Itthad on transfer deadline day, an offer which Liverpool immediately rejected. The Saudi transfer window remains open until September 7 and Al-Itthad could return with an improved offer, but Liverpool have insisted Salah is not for sale.
The Egypt international scored Liverpool’s third goal as the Reds continued their unbeaten start to the Premier League season with a 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday. Dominik Szoboszlai and an own goal from Matty Cash saw Klopp’s side take control of Salah’s side. A close range shot completed the win.
Salah has now scored or provided an assist in ten consecutive Premier League games for Liverpool and Klopp has insisted the 31-year-old remains satisfied and engaged in his life at Anfield. “He played a very good game. Mo had to work very hard and he did that,” Klopp told Sky Sports after beating Villa.
“I never had any doubts about his commitment to this club. You can’t imagine how upset the world has been, but how calm we are about it. He’s our player and he wants to play here.”
