In light of ongoing rumors that Mohamed Salah may leave Anfield sooner rather than later, Liverpool has reportedly already spoken to Johan Bakayoko of PSV Eindhoven as a potential Mohamed Salah replacement.
Salah now appears set to stay until at least January, though given the Saudi Arabia transfer window is open for another week it is not a guarantee even though Liverpool selling at this point seems almost out of the question after the Reds rejected a £150 million bid from Al-Ittihad on transfer deadline day.
There are rumors of a £200 million transfer in the works, and that might continue into January, when the Reds may think about selling to effectively replace him.
Johan Bakayoko, a winger for PSV Eindhoven, is said to have been identified as a potential replacement for the Egyptian in this regard. The 20-year-old had attention from clubs like Brentford, Burnley, and PSG this summer before deciding to stay in the Netherlands.
After Noni Madueke left PSV to join Chelsea in January, Bakayoko officially made his debut for the team, replacing the young Englishman on the front line.
Since then, the 20-year-old has played 44 times for the first squad, scoring seven goals and dishing out nine assists while grabbing the interest of other clubs.
Despite a last-minute £34 million bid from Brentford, he chose to stay at PSV this summer. Should his form continue, he is now anticipated to move in the following months for a figure greater than that demanded by Brentford.
Although Bakayoko is a highly talented young player and might be a great long-term replacement for Salah, it is unlikely that he would have the same immediate effect in the Premier League as the Egyptian did.
