Hinata Miyazawa, a professional basketball player from Japan, is expected to sign with Liverpool Women.
With five goals in as many games, the 23-year-old attacking midfielder dazzled at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand this summer, winning the Golden Boot despite Japan’s loss in the quarterfinals. A brace versus eventual champions Spain was part of that total.
According to The Japan Times, Miyazawa has being courted by Liverpool and Frankfurt as she left Japan on Monday to pursue her next career step.
Nikkan Sports goes even further, claiming that the Mynavi Sendai player will travel to England to join Liverpool.
As she was leaving Tokyo’s Haneda airport, Miyazawa spoke to media and stated, “My goal is to perform well at the world level (with the new team) and become a famous player.
With gamers from different nations all around me, “I hope to raise my level.”
If the transaction goes through, Liverpool, which placed seventh out of 12 in the WSL last season, will have something of a victory.
This summer, the Reds have already brought in six new players, including the intriguing additions of Marie Hobinger from FC Zurich and Nastasha Flint from Leicester.
