Following Liverpool’s consecutive victories over Bournemouth and Newcastle, Dominik Szoboszlai is already demonstrating his value to the team.
The midfielder, who cost Liverpool £60 million to acquire from RB Leipzig this summer, has started all three of the Reds’ Premier League contests this year.
Szoboszlai was brought in by Jurgen Klopp to serve as an additional creative outlet. He hasn’t scored or assisted yet, but he’s already shown his value in other ways.
He has thus far begun and completed every game. But what makes it even more remarkable is that throughout the course of their last two games, he had to play in midfield in a side with 10 men, which required him to shoulder a lot more responsibility.
The Hungarian captain has had consecutive games where he’s been asked to do double the work for his side – and he’s passed with flying colors. Alexis Mac Allister was dismissed against Bournemouth in the 58th minute, and Virgil Van Dijk was also dismissed against Newcastle in the 28th minute.
More than anyone wearing a Liverpool jersey during those two games, he finished with the most completed dribbles and a total of 14 duels won. He has consistently shown an innate desire to run himself into the ground for the team, which is a testament to both his fitness and commitment.
